AC Shadows Unveils Bizarre AoT Event for Holiday Season
In a bizarre partnership that breaks usual forecasts, Ubisoft has unveiled an virtual collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, providing free bonus story content for Shadows players.
Mysterious Questline Revealed
According to the official statement, "An unusual encounter pulls characters Naoe and Yasuke into a new adventure, where rumors of prohibited rituals and terrifying changes reverberate through the obscurity." The narrative features a "unusually dressed woman named Ada" who tasks the duo with journeying into the Crystalline Cavern—a key location from Attack on Titan—to save her ally from a clandestine sect.
The questline centers on "strange tests and a monstrous enemy" and is accessible to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.
Iconic Places and Metamorphoses
The trailer showcases the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was earlier where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The teaser ends with a striking scene showing a character, presumably the prisoner, changing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Rewards and Additional Material
Players who finish the mission will obtain an unique katana alongside several artifacts concealed throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also contains in-store Attack on Titan item packs, including:
- Titan-themed costume for Yasuke
- Mikasa outfit for Naoe
- Unique weapons
- Survey Corps mount
Newest Free Story Addition
This release also introduces the game's third free story addition, titled "The Enigma." This humorous adventure teams Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange signature techniques: Naoe reveals a performative version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-fatal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Enigma" also features a original environmental puzzle that may eventually shed light on some unresolved questions from the main storyline.
