Kansas City Chiefs Acknowledge Alleged Abuse Claims Involving Player the Athlete

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment on Wednesday evening indicating they are aware of claims of abuse circulated in online accounts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver Rashee Rice and were in contact with the NFL.

The organization did not mention the player specifically in their statement and noted they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention the athlete by name, shared a series of photos on Instagram that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. She did say the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has kids with Rice, whom the team selected in the second round.

Official Complaints Reportedly Unavailable

No official complaints were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have taken place.

Player's Recent Legal Issues

The receiver was absent for the initial part of this season following an league-mandated ban for his involvement in causing a crash on a Texas roadway that left several individuals hurt. He was given a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to felony charges.

Statistically, Rice concluded the year with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five TDs as the Kansas City went 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a decade.
