A woman indicted with stalking Kate McCann allegedly recorded her a phone message which asked: "suppose I am Madeleine?"

The defendant, 24, who witnesses stated has repeatedly asserted she was the disappeared Madeleine McCann, and her co-defendant are standing trial indicted with harassing Kate and Gerry McCann from June 2022 and February this year.

On Monday, Leicester Crown Court was told call records and information retrieved from phones documented Ms Wandelt repeatedly asking Madeleine's mother for a biological test over the past two years.

Madeleine's disappearance in 2007 - when she was three years old during a family holiday in Portugal - is considered the most widely reported missing child cases and is still open.

'I Do Not Need Money'

A separate voicemail, played in court, documented Ms Wandelt stating: "I know I'm fat and not pretty like Madeleine used to be, but I believe what I believe."

While a separate message of Ms Wandelt's one-way conversations with Mrs McCann's voicemail stated: "Suppose there is a tiny probability that I am Madeleine? Then what? Isn't that important for you?"

"I don't want money, I possess a existence here in Poland, I just want to discover," she added.

The panel was advised that through emails, text messages and communications, Ms Wandelt demanded a genetic test, transmitted youth pictures to her phone in a attempt to show a resemblance to Mrs McCann's missing daughter, and claimed to have "memories" from a childhood with the McCanns.

Robert Jones, an intelligence analyst with Leicestershire Police who gathered the data, told the court there "didn't appear to be any answers" from Mrs McCann.

Ms Wandelt furthermore reached out to acquaintances of the McCanns, as per the communication logs.

On October 9th, 2024, Gerry McCann picked up a phone call from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, saying she had "incorrect contact information."

That day Ms Wandelt recorded a recording on Mrs McCann's answerphone declaring "I will continue and I will prove my claim."

The court was informed Mrs Spragg developed a relationship online with Ms Wandelt prior to accompanying her on a trip to the McCanns' residence in that area in that winter.

Communication data showed Mrs Spragg had communicated using WhatsApp to Mrs McCann to express the press had portrayed Ms Wandelt as "mentally unstable" but that she ought to be taken seriously in the months before the appearance to the village, the county, in that winter.

The court heard communications between the two individuals, in November 2024, discussing attempting to get Mrs McCann's genetic material from her bins or from silverware at a eating establishment.
