It's a challenge for the Australian squad to break new ground.

The highest peaks have long been mastered.

This is the team that has won seven Cricket World Cups, along with an additional six T20 titles, and earlier maintained over three years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, those for the record chasers, are all that remain for a team that has won it all.

That it took as late as Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase above 300, regaining their record for the largest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, honestly, a tribute to the pitchers that have sported the yellow jersey over the past 50 years.

It's challenging for their batsmen to hold a record if not provided the opportunity.

Ultimately, the consequence of Australia allowing 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy being given an opportunity to produce her latest masterpiece.

Initially recognized as the 19-year-old niece of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after her nation didn't secure either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups held the previous year and has witnessed all through 15 championship-filled years since.

A T20 World Cup win came three months after her bow and seven world titles have come from 10 efforts across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India momentarily interrupted the winning streak.

That loss "pushed us to rethink our standards," Healy said this week.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the final and was declared player of the series. She guaranteed her country would not fall short again.

If this recent magnificent innings topped that previous effort remains open for discussion.

Some will argue the argument supporting final game tension. Some might respond with the challenge that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What is certain is this ton was considerably tougher to predict.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 occurred when she led the batting statistics, but this innings followed six innings in India since the start of last month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"If you've observed me in training, it was a challenging time because I feel like I lacked timing at all," commented Healy.

"However when you enter the playing area, your competitive nature kick in and you just lock into the match."

Healy's competitive nature has consistently been her key asset - and an invaluable trait in succeeding legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, fallen to the young fast bowler in all three matches, but this time it merely gave Healy's spark.

One run resulted off the bowler's initial ball and from that point the right-hander was underway.

"An opportunity to go out there and engage in competition with her and simply enjoy myself that way, kind of motivated me," commented Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 pitches - her swiftest at the global tournament - and her century in 84 balls as she flogged anything short, hitting 21 fours and three maximums.

Once she was removed the team required another 66 at a run-a-ball - an unconquered height now demanding an easy conclusion.

"Pursuing 330 is new territory so I am glad we have the confidence to achieve that now," stated Healy further.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it another time but, should it happen, we believe we can achieve it."

These statements will be the final thing rival teams at this tournament should hear.

Over the past five days a belief they will triumph from any situation has grown stronger - this victory succeeding victory over Pakistan by 107 runs despite being 76-7 at one stage.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before an encounter with old rivals England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final place may likely be confirmed.

It was in the semi-finals they were eliminated from the prior year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - an encounter Healy was absent due to ruptured tissue in her foot as she led her country for the initial instance at a major tournament.

So strong is her resolve, she afterwards commented she wished she had played through the pain.

However although she subsequently acknowledged those physical issues have postponed plans to retire, this championship is expected to be her last as captain in ODI cricket and she is yet to win an international tournament as captain.

Triumph in India would lead her to the peak of her final mountain.
