Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Tragic Road Accident
The British boxer Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, Nigerian authorities stated on late Wednesday. The fighter was part of a serious road collision in the Lagos area on Monday, a tragic incident that resulted in the deaths of two of his team members.
Recovering from Minor Injuries
Joshua had been receiving medical attention while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his promoter confirmed on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement online that Joshua was judged healthy enough to “recuperate at home”.
“Joshua and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two departed friends as they were being made ready for the journey back,” the commissioner stated.
Remembering the Victims
The two men who died were identified as Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. Omotoso added that the athlete was heartbroken and overcome with emotion over the loss of his two trusted companions.”
The news of his discharge arrives after the global fight fans shared its support for the star in the aftermath of the heartbreaking incident.
